BK CROWN Program (review and giveaway)
(This giveaway is now closed and a winner has been notified. Thanks so much for entering!)
We recently returned from a marathon vacation. We headed out from our home in Connecticut and drove down to Tampa to board a cruise ship. After that? More driving to get us up to Indiana for Thanksgiving. And once the turkey had been consumed? You guessed it. More driving back to New England. All told, our children saw fifteen states over the course of our journey!
While we dined on elegant fare onboard the ship and filled our bellies with Grandma's comfort food in the Midwest, those six days en route meant we needed some quick, on-the-go lunches. One of my children's favorites that we grabbed on the road? The Kids Meal boxes as part of the BK Crown program.
On top of the box is a removable crown (and it may just be me, but I think these have been redesigned to better fit smaller heads). My two princess-lovin' girlies were all about that. The box is also covered with various games and activities which delighted my puzzle-solving little boy. He loved telling us about what he found on there and what he was working on.
Truth? The times we rely on fast food, I generally just order something off the dollar menu for my kids. They don't have much Kids Meal experience. So there was definitely some novelty factor there. Still, I liked seeing their excitement and I have to admit I was really happy to hear my son ask this question:
"What does this mean? 'Go to BKCrown.com, enter your Crown Code and choose a way to help. Burger King Corp. will make a donation to the charity you've picked.'? Can I do that? Can I pick someone to help???"
He was so eager and I'm a big fan of any and all opportunities to talk about giving! BK has established a fund to help support the Wildlife Conservation Society, National Parks Conservation Association, DonorsChoose.org and Have It Your Way™ Foundation.
Perhaps you'd like to explore the new BK CROWN Program with your children? (You don't need to have a big voyage on the agenda! ;)) You're in the right place! I have a $25 BURGER KING Crown Card for one of my winners to purchase a kid's meal featuring the BK CROWN Program. (And, yes, you can definitely buy way more than one kid's meal with that card-- you might want to try out a "BK Family Bundle for $9.99 which includes: WHOPPER® sandwich, WHOPPER JR.® sandwich., two small fries, two small soft drinks and a Kids Meal)
For a chance to win (or a few chances) just do the following:
1) Leave a comment answering this question (mandatory):
How do you try to make mealtimes fun and engaging with your children?
2) Feel free to earn extra entries by sharing about this giveaway on Twitter, Facebook, or your blog and coming back to let me know in additional comment(s).
Thanks and good luck!
Winner will be selected on Monday, December 5th.

We like to ask our 2yo about her day at supper time. It has been fun to see her saying more & more.

ReplyDeleteWe should probably try harder to make meal time more fun, but I try to let my kids help with the prep which they find extremely entertaining.

When it comes to fast food, BK is one of the only places we'll go! And we just had the family bundle a couple of weeks ago. It's genius!
ReplyDeleteWe get the kids involved with helping set the table and sometimes even preparing dinner. We ask questions about each others days and tell our best/worst moments. It's one of my favorite times of the day!
At the moment, our mealtimes are fun because we do the Jesse tree stories at dinner. I've been thinking about continuing with Bible stories at dinner even after Christmas is over because Grace loves it so much.
ReplyDeleteWe make mealtimes engaging by all sharing one part of our day.
ReplyDeleteI Tweeted. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, btw, I also love those meals. In addition to all the things you said about them, they are easier to eat in the car. We do fast food drive through two or three times a month, and BK is by far my favorite. Grace has no trouble keeping her chicken nuggets, fries, and honey mustard on her lap with the little box.
I got this straight from the mouth of Melissa D'Arabian and I love it! It sounds strange, but...I always serve dessert. Sometimes dessert in an orange or yogurt, sometimes it's a cookie or other "real" dessert. But by serving dessert at every meal it keeps my girls at the table longer and more interested in what's going on. Sometimes I don't decide what dessert will be until I see how well they've eaten. For us, it works!
ReplyDeleteI try to make mealtimes fun but not to fun cause then little man stops eating and starts going crazy! (He's got lots of energy!!) I try engaging little man with the meals by letting him help me cook! Also I try to explain the what's and how's of cooking and the foods we are preparing.

I ask my kids about their day at school. I dig a little deeper when they tell me about certain projects. Sometimes we talk about the plans for the next day or big events coming up. Something always seems to start an interesting family conversation

I've worked with kids all my life and find that its important to ask them what they feel like doing or would like to eat. They always have interesting opinions ! I always like giving kids shaped pancakes or chicken nuggets to count them out. That way they can play with their food and learn about different dinosaurs and how to count . It allows for their imagination to run free while eating something nutritious. I always get a kick out of kids saying " I just ate dinosaurs for dinner!"
