Guess what? I haven't purchased Totino's Pizza Rolls for over a year. I used to pick them up occasionally when they were part of those "10 for $10, get $3 off instantly" promotions at Kroger but, alas, we no longer live anywhere near a Kroger. While my family hasn't suffered as a result of not having these snacks around, I will say that my middle child- my former micropreemie- absolutely adores the things. I think she prefers the little bits of meat in these snacky-size rolls to the bigger chunks I'm apt to put on my homemade pizza.
Convenience snack foods aren't typical fare around here, but I'm also not above taking a hand when I get it! I'm practical and easy-going enough to know that a couple of pizza rolls are not an indication that my children aren't fed a balanced diet.

I homeschool our children, but a tip that I've found that works well for us is to ease into it. We don't go gung-ho the first week and I gradually add each subject to get them into the swing of things again.
ReplyDeleteConvenience. ;) We toss some of our homemade/whole foods rules for a few weeks... especially this year!
ReplyDeleteLay out everything you'll need the night before...like clean underwear and socks with our outfit, so we don't forget to change into them!
ReplyDeleteDo as much before school as you can and keep one calendar for everyone.
ReplyDeleteBe ready for school to start and early to bed and extra snacks helps us.

I like to get everything ready the night before. Backpacks filled up, clothes out, notes signed, whatever needs to be done.

The best tip I have is to get lunches ready the night before - oh and to get up early or at least on time! :) Thanks! Paula
ReplyDeleteMy kids are grown, but with a granddaughter coming to visit soon, I know the Totino's pizza and Pizza Rolls and school supplies would definitely be appreciated! When my three kids were in school, I tried to get enough sleep myself, too - it helps fight the grouchies.
ReplyDeleteSimple meals and flexibility!!

I try to establish a routine pretty early on and stick to it. Meal planning allows me to be free to help with assignments. Having set days alloted to do specific things mean I know what hours are carved out ahead of time and so does my family.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest loves totinos rolls as a snack food. It's one of his favorite treats.

I take the week before school starts off. It's not an option for everyone, but it allows me a little sanity.

I think you survive by preparing the night before what to wear and your lunch.

I like to leave the tv off in the mornings during the back to school time. It seems to slow down the kids and then we end up rushing to get ready. When there are less distractions, everything seems to go smoother!

We get into the school schedule a few weeks before school starts. Makes life much easier.

I try to take a quick nap before everyone starts getting home from school. I lay down when the youngest lays down, otherwise I'd have no energy to spare.

We homeschool, so for us the easiest way is to ease into it by only starting with the basics, then adding subjects as we get our routine worked out.
ReplyDeleteSurviving the back to school season? Get started earlier than the week before :)
ReplyDeleteI RT your own Last Hour tweet about this giveaway. @lavonnelong is my username.
ReplyDeleteI like to get the kids into a bedtime routine at least a couple weeks before. I also like to give baths, get lunches ready, and clothes picked out the night before so the morning won't be so hectic.

What helps me is making a calendar with all the activities, color-coded by child. At a glance, we can tell who needs to be where and when. Makes it a lot easier and less of a chance of mis-communication (who's transporting who where?)
